Market Watch: Orange is the new black ... and grey and silver

Throughout the nineties and noughties, black, grey and silver were – and continue to be – the safe choice of car colour. The sturdy hue we know we can trust, which works on any car.

Some cars look brilliant in black (Bentley Mulsanne), silver (Aston Martin DB9), grey (Audi RS3) or white (BMW i8). But recently I’ve spotted more vehicles coming through our showroom with a bit more colour.

Look at the bright orange Porsche 911 GT3 we have in stock now. It has a big rear ring and looks slightly crazy. No one would look at that and say: ‘I’d prefer it if it was more … I dunno … a bit more subtle.’

Another example was the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S we had in last year – finished in special-order Flugplatz Blue. It looked phenomenal!

In 2014, almost a quarter of new cars sold in the UK were white. Two years on, I think 2016 will be the year of bold and bright colours. Be brave and lead the way.
