Car Of The Week – Aston Martin DB12

There have been 78 years of the DB moniker. It started at DB1, and we’ve got all the way (aside from 10), to DB12. A common misconception is that the ‘12’ refers to how many cylinders you’ll find under the bonnet. A reasonable assumption, given the V12 found in the DB12’s predecessor, the DB11.

Some may bemoan the loss of four cylinders, but one could view it as akin to Continental ditching the W12 for a V8. Not only does it make sense in a world that is becoming ever tighter on emissions regulations, but the Continental is more often than not reported to be a better car for it.

Year: 2023

Mileage: 6,000 miles

Colour: Storm Purple

Interior: Monotone Phantom grey Inspire Comfort with Ivory stitching

Three years ago, Aston introduced the DB12 as the world’s first ‘Super Tourer’. Apparently, Grand Tourer wasn’t good enough. 0-60mph takes 3.5 seconds, and the top speed is 202mph. The V8 might have less cylinders than the V12, but that doesn’t mean you’re left for wanting more. 671bhp and 800Nm of torque is more than enough to go on. The optional carbon ceramics feel somewhat necessary, should you be inclined to find out what the DB12 is truly capable of.

Other options include the audio system – the DB12 was the beginning of Aston’s partnership with Bowers & Wilkins. The Gloss Black upper and lower packs match the Gloss Black painted Roof. Inside, the Phantom Grey Leather and the Brogue seat detailing are both options, along with the 16-way electric, heated and ventilated front seats that it covers.
