Car Of The Week – Ferrari 296 GTBSOMETIMES SILENT. ALWAYS BOLD.
There’s a Ferrarifor everyone these days. Well, not exactly, but if you’ve got some spare cash for a piece of exotic Italian machinery your choices are endless. If you’re an avid collector, perhaps you might enquire into one of the Icona series; the Daytona SP3, Monza SP1, and Monza SP2 are truly beautiful, rare works of art.
And if you’re a fan of a theatrical V12, the 812 GTS offers a glorious mix of comfort, theatre, and outstanding performance. The Roma and the Portofino are equally besotting – their svelte profiles, epic V8 powertrains and masterful engineering make them a joy to drive. But there’s another way. A more hybridised way…
The Ferrari 296 GTB is Ferrari’s response to the increasing trend towards electrification. And although this isn’t the first time Ferrari has experimented with a V6 (the Dino was powered by a Formula 2-derived 2-litre V6), this is an all-new concept to push us towards the next generation of the supercar.
Composed of a complex aluminium body, alongside a powerful 3-litre V6 in conjunction with a small 7.45kW/h, 70kg battery pack which feeds a 165bhp electric motor sat low in the chassis, the 296 GTB produces an eye-watering combined 818bhp. That’s enough to propel Elon’s new rocket to Mars. And back again. Supported by two turbos from the even more technically sophisticated SF90, and by closely monitoring the energy released from the electric motor, Ferrari have managed to work their Italian wizardry and create a supercar that feels like it is naturally aspirated.
But it’s not just technical innovations that make the 296 GTB such a compelling package; it is also its beguiling character. In their never-ending search for driving pleasure whilst maximising efficiency, manufacturers sometimes create vehicles that are technically fabulous, yet somehow fail to make you feel special.
Ferrari have not fallen into this trap with the 296. Just look at it for starters. The super low, compact profile is refreshingly beautiful; nothing is there that doesn’t need to be. Sure, it might not have the jaw-dropping impact of a 458 Speciale or F12 TDF, but as a contemporary solution to a supercar, it is a truly sublime attempt.
Our example is fitted with over £75k of optional extras, including a vast array of carbon fibre elements, a Full ADAS pack, front suspension lifter, Premium Hi-Fi system, adaptive frontlight system and much more. Open the door and climb into a world of supple Crema leather, Rosso stitching, and incredible technology.
Our One Owner Rosso Corsa Ferrari 296 GTB has covered just 1,800 miles and comes complete with the remainder of a Ferrari manufacturer warranty until November 2026, and a Ferrari 7-year service plan until November 2029. This vehicle is also VAT Qualifying.
