Car Of The Week – Ferrari 488 Pista SpiderWhen it comes to picking car of the week, sometimes it can be difficult to decide between any number of contenders. This week however, there was less deciding to be done than usual. It’s a rather special Ferrari 488 Pista Spider with over seventy thousand pounds’ worth of factory and dealer options.
The paint alone is in excess of ten thousand pounds, and the racing stripes (colour matched to the wheels) are not much less. Other key options include the full car Topaz PPF and Carbon fibre underdoor cover, which between the two, cost a bit more than the paint.

Honestly? We could write down a list of the options and that would be it. No more words left before we ran out of space. Pretty much every surface you touch when you’re sat in the seat, from doors to the dash to the floor, the firewall, and even the seats themselves, are swathed in Alcantara. The first owner made several special requests, including things like the paintwork, which Ferrari note may be subject to delay on the order form, which is when you know it’s special. Other special requests include the Bordeaux Alcantara floor mats, the Tricolore stripe down the centre of the seats, and the racing stripes to be colour matched to the wheels. And yes. For some reason, the previous owner of the car specced a leather door pull on the driver’s side, but an Alcantara door handle on the passenger’s side.
Of course, the car doesn’t just have niche options. There’s Apple CarPlay, suspension lifter for those pesky speedbumps, or if you have an unfortunately angled driveway. Also, full Topaz PPF keeps that gorgeous, extra-range paintwork and exterior carbon fibre free from stone chips.
Like we said, we could go on. We’ve barely scratched the surface of the gigantic order form. But that would be kind of missing the point. A car like this might be remarkable on paper, but at the end of the day, it’s just a collection of words on a page. In the metal, it becomes something else altogether. A masterpiece. Almost a work of art. There’s only one thing to do: admire it. So put down the screen, because it doesn’t do it justice.
