Car Of The Week – Ferrari F8 SpiderGreen and Ferrari aren’t often in collocation. It’s not a very environmentally conscious car, and it seems that more often than not, the name of the colour (the other place you might find the word), begins with ‘Rosso’.
This is not one of those times, so under the ‘Special Equipment’ part of the spec plaque, it instead reads “Verde Scuro”. It’s an extra-range, two-layer paint. A deep, metallic forest green that is delightfully unique.
Year: 2023
Mileage: 200
Colour: Verde Scuro
Interior: Crema Leather
The F8 Spider is, as it stands, the last of its kind. Which is to say, the last roofless, combustion engine-only, mid-engined V8 Ferrari. The Roma Spider is still made, true – but it’s not mid-engined. Which makes the F8 an increasingly rare proposition.
It’s that engine which gets all the attention. Maybe not quite A 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 that bears resemblance to the one in the 488 Pista, but this time with the key figures reading 710bhp and 568lb-ft, meaning the performance is ballistic, with 0-62mph passing in 2.9 seconds.
Key options then, involve a tasteful amount of carbon fibre only on the inside – to the dash, driver zone and central bridge. On the exterior, accents are in Matt Black, such as the wheels, front lid collar and sports tailpipe tips. Thankfully, the car is also covered in full paint protection film (PPF), which feels necessary given the special 2-layer paint.
Undeniably, this car is all about the colour – not only do green and cream roll off the tongue, but it’s a classy, sophisticated combination. Not only that – it’s topless, which comes at a cost – it’s 70kg heavier than the Tributo. However, it’s 20kg lighter than the 488 Spider. So there you have it. Some Ferraris are green after all.
