Car Of The Week – Porsche 911 GT3 (992)

This red GT3 is car of the week this time around. You might think it strange it’s not the headline-grabbing RS, but if anything, that’s the GT3’s party trick. It’s a very desirable machine, don’t misunderstand, but it’s not talked about in hushed whispers like an RS is. A GT3 goes somewhat under the radar in comparison, despite still being an extraordinarily capable car. So you have to ask yourself a question: is the GT3, non-RS, the most bang for your buck offered by any Porsche, second-hand? Is it worth dropping the two letters on the end?

It’s certainly a compelling proposition especially when you get to the options list of this car in particular. PCCB is an acronym all Porsche enthusiasts are familiar with for a reason, along with PDLS, both of which are present.

The greatest difference is most likely felt on a track, and for that, this GT3 has come prepared. The ClubSport package with roll cage and full Bucket seats mean that the interior of this GT3 oozes track readiness, and the Chrono Package with preparation for a lap trigger means this GT3 is ready for a track day at a moments notice. The exterior is suitably track focussed, with a wing that it looks like Porsche have borrowed from the aviation industry and the decorative Motor Sports sticker set. Along with track pack PPF, which includes the Front bumper, A pillars, wing mirrors, Side Skirts and a strip along the most exposed edge of the roof, it doesn’t get much closer to an RS without actually buying one, than this. Plus, there’s a 1kg road-legal fire extinguisher in case things go badly wrong, just like an actual race car.

All this equipment to ensure the GT3 offers bristling performance whenever you desire it, and yet, there are creature comforts like cruise control, ParkAssist with a reversing camera, front axle lift and BOSE Surround Sound. Despite there only being a good-sized boot at the front, you can still fit a decent amount of things where the back seats would have been, despite the roll cage.
