Car Of The Week – Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition P530Jaguar Land Rover makes some of the most popular luxury vehicles in the world under the name Range Rover. Spacious, comfortable, and with true off-road credentials, there isn’t much a Range Rover can’t accomplish. One thing the Range Rover can struggle with, however, is scarcity. Fortunately, numbers of the Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition were limited to just 16 examples, as is subtly communicated on the illuminated treadplates, giving this Range Rover a taste of exclusivity it hasn’t felt before.
Big tick in the rarity box achieved, the question then, is what makes this Range Rover so special, aside from its rarity? What exactly makes it worth its hefty £250,000 list price? Fortunately, it’s an easy answer, and its significance lies in the name.
The Lansdowne edition of the Range Rover SV was revealed in February 2023 to celebrate the re-imagining of JLR’s luxury Mayfair boutique, which has been serving clients for over 100 years. As such, each vehicle was built by JLR’s SV Bespoke department to be worthy of representing such heritage, and includes many features found only on the Lansdowne Edition, including but not limited to, exclusive exterior paintwork for the body, roof and wing mirror caps, unique wheels, and interior colour and material combinations.
JLR even stretched to new levels of luxury, going so far as to recruit the assistance of Britain’s oldest family-owned jeweller, Fattorini, to craft the badging found at the front and the rear of the vehicle. Levels of attention to detail which are well suited to such a rare vehicle, leaving you in no doubt as to the luxurious intention JLR placed behind the Lansdowne Edition to ensure it was worthy of commemorating the brand’s Mayfair-based boutique.
Range Rovers are supremely capable, comfortable, and ultimately usable. The Lansdowne Edition loses none of that and only gains in sophistication and opulence. This specific vehicle has extra features on top of those unique to the Lansdowne Edition, such as deployable side steps and an electrically deployable towbar. These only serve to broaden the vehicle’s capabilities, making this Range Rover just at home towing trailers through the countryside as it is cruising through its birthplace- Mayfair, London. So there you have it. Think of the Range Rover Lansdowne Edition as everything an ordinary Range Rover is but way rarer.
