Car Of The Week – Rolls Royce Spectre

It’s difficult to say exactly what luxury is, or what it means. What do you think luxury is? Perhaps you associate it with money. Maybe material possessions. Maybe it’s more of a lifestyle. The Oxford English Dictionary defines luxury as “the habitual use of, or indulgence in what is choice or costly, whether food, dress, furniture, or appliances of any kind”. Or cars.

Rolls Royce is such a weighty name. Unless you’ve been under a very large rock, everyone knows it. Spectre isn’t a bad word to follow, either. It’s quite James Bond-y, who is well known for fictionally living both a very choice and costly life. Working with such expensive cars for a living makes you kind of numb to large sums of money, but whenever a Rolls Royce lands, it’s a reminder that this a company that does not mess around. With a price tag that starts at over £300k (this particular car breached the £400k mark from factory, thanks to its options), the Rolls Royce Spectre definitely qualifies as “costly”.

Year: 24/74

Mileage: 900

Colour: Belladonna Purple

Interior: Full Grace White leather interior with contrast Mandarin stitching & piping.

It’s also the very epitome of indulgence, something that the interior makes crystal clear. When you open the door, there’s a feeling unlike any other. It’s the sense that every single thing in sight is the best quality in the world. The most indulgent part of it all is the small things. Like the Lambswool floormats, which are approximately half a mile thick and make you feel like you should take your shoes off before you get in. Other things worthy of a mention include the optional Canadel doors, which means that for just over £10,000, you can have your chosen veneer applied to the door, and ambient lighting from the door armrest. Choice.

The last thing to mention is the fact that the Spectre is a full EV. Never has a brand been more suited to completely silent, effortless EV power than Rolls Royce has. It also helps the Spectre achieve the last part of the Oxford English Dictionaries’ definition of luxury: “the habitual use of”. After all, what’s the point in buying a car like this if you don’t get to enjoy it? And with full EV power, you’re free to waft around silently, cocooned in indulgent, choice and costly luxury.
