Car Of The Week – Ferrari 812 CompetizioneOne million pounds. There’s no doubt that it’s a lot of money, which must mean that in return, you must get a lot of car. And as a starting point, it doesn’t get much better than a 812 Superfast, which is what the Competizione is based on.
It was May 52021, when the world first laid eyes on the 812 Competizione, which was produced in extremely limited quantities (999 for the coupe). Ferrari says it was inspired by “uncompromising maximum performance”.
Year: 2023
Mileage: 600
Colour: Argento Nurburgring
Interior: Blu Medio Alcantara with Grigio Chiaro accents.
Fun fact, the 812 Competizione was the first Ferrari with a V12 to have full carbon fibre wheels as an option, which offers a weight reduction of 3.7kg over the 812 Superfast’s alloys. This car has them, and they’re stunning. Overall, the Competizione is 38kg lighter than the Superfast. Speaking of that V12, it’s a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated item that makes over 800 bhp, and you won’t find the redline until 9.5k on the rpm gauge. It’s an engine that revs freely; it’s genuinely sonorous.
Ferrari spec plaques are often full of carbon, but never more so than here, with the parcel shelf being formed from it, alongside the engine bay covers, interior door handles and even the filter box. It’s not just carbon though. The Atelier interior is a classy combination of Blue Medio Alcantara with Grigio Chiaro accents. It’s not just the obvious items either – the Cavallino Ferrari badge is satin, and the Scuderia shields have been meticulously airbrushed on.
The 812’s Comeptizione’s list price when new was around £450,000. Like all Ferraris, the cost soon swelled when you started to tick some option boxes, but even so. The 812 Competizione’s current market value is a clear indicator of what kind of machine it really is. A lot of car indeed.
