Finished in Anthracite Grey metallic, featuring a full Red leather interior, this exceptionally well-kept, matching numbers Mercedes-Benz 190SL LHD is offered in immaculate condition and having covered only 585 miles since restoration. The car comes with a meticulous and detailed history file including the original owner’s manual and invoices, tracking it all the way from the US where it was originally bought, to the UK.
Originally delivered to the first owner in the Rockefeller Centre, New York on 24/11/1958, the car was purchased by the owner on 04/08/1989 through an importer to the UK, where the car underwent significant work to the bodywork, engine and gearbox.
The previous owner acquired the car in 2014, at which point a full restoration was carried out from 2015 to 2023, at an estimated total cost of over £150,000, carried out by Redcastle Classics and Lux Classics. Including a full engine rebuild at the cost of some £41,000 in 2016. During this time, the colour of the car was changed from the original White Grey to Anthracite Grey metallic. However, the original interior colour, red, has been preserved. More recently in 2023, approximately £25,000 was spent on post-restoration refinements, including the replacement of the Weber carburettors with original Solex PHH44 carburettors for greater authenticity. These are much rarer and require specialist knowledge to fit.
