The Aston Martin DB12 Volante represents the open-top expression of the marque’s new-generation Super Tourer, combining the performance and sharper dynamics of the DB12 Coupé with the added theatre of roof-down driving. Powered by a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 671 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and electronic rear differential, it accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 202 mph. A shortened final-drive ratio strengthens in-gear acceleration, while five selectable drive modes allow the powertrain, suspension and stability systems to adapt between refined grand touring and more focused performance driving. Rather than serving as a softer alternative to the Coupé, the DB12 Volante was engineered to retain the precision, response and high-speed composure that define Aston Martin’s latest generation of front-engined sports cars.
The electrically operated K-fold fabric roof uses eight layers of insulation to preserve refinement when raised, opening in 14 seconds and closing in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph. Its compact folding mechanism sits beneath a sculpted hard tonneau cover, maintaining the DB12 Volante’s low, uninterrupted profile while maximising luggage space. Structural reinforcement, model-specific spring and damper tuning, intelligent adaptive dampers and a non-isolated steering column give the Volante exceptional rigidity and direct driver feedback, complemented by 21-inch forged alloy wheels and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres. Inside, the DB12 introduces Aston Martin’s first fully in-house infotainment system, centred around a 10.25-inch touchscreen while retaining physical controls for key driving and climate functions.
