A superb example of the iconic “Pagoda”, this original RHD UK supplied 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is a rare find. With matching numbers, hard top roof, original handbooks and boasting just 4 owners from new with the current owner having acquired the car in 2015.

In 2011, the car underwent a comprehensive chassis up bare metal restoration, fully documented with photographs. As part of this process, the body was sent to Germany for specialist zinc dipping to ensure long-term rust protection showing the level of detail that was taken into account.

It was then refinished in the legendary Mercedes Gullwing Silver Grey (DB180) a colour instantly recognisable to Mercedes enthusiasts with a contrasting Red leather refinished interior.

Since restoration, the car has covered only 5,000 dry miles, with total mileage from new believed to be around 120,000 and is fresh from a full service.

Mercedes-Benz 280SL ‘Pagoda’

This Mercedes-Benz 280SL ‘Pagoda’ is a superbly restored example of one of Stuttgart’s most elegant and collectible classics - an original right-hand-drive UK-supplied car and the final, most refined evolution of the W113 generation. Powered by a 2.8-litre inline-six engine derived from the 300SL’s inline-six, producing around 170 bhp and paired to a four-speed automatic gearbox, the 280SL delivers a smooth, balanced driving experience that perfectly blends performance, comfort and timeless Mercedes-Benz sophistication.

This matching-numbers example underwent a comprehensive bare-metal, chassis-up restoration in 2011, fully documented with photographs. During the process, the body was zinc-dipped in Germany for long-term corrosion protection before being refinished in the iconic Mercedes Gullwing Silver Grey (DB180) and complemented by a beautifully retrimmed red leather interior. The attention to detail and authenticity of the work highlight the quality of the restoration.

With just four owners from new and only 5,000 dry miles since its restoration, this car remains in exceptional condition throughout. It is offered complete with its factory hardtop, original handbooks and a comprehensive history file, representing a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest examples of the Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda - a model admired worldwide for its elegance, engineering integrity and enduring desirability among collectors.
